The Inside Passage and Alaska Flotilla
NW Explorations, the charter masters of the yachts we use, coordinate a "flotilla" of six boats for a voyage to Alaska, offering a couple of opportunities for a most extraordinary adventure. One is a two week group voyage up the inside passage to Desolation Sound and the Discovery Islands. The other cruises along the southeast Alaskan coast. Both are 12 days and about 400 miles long The flotilla is escorted by a lead boat - skippered by a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain - with a trained marine technician and a certified naturalist on board. This assures a trouble free, safe, yet stimulating adventure in remote waters.
A diagrams at the bottom of this posting show the itinerary for each available leg. With a new destination every day, the crew is available to provide an educational experience, with historical, geological, and natural color, along with local advice on good restaurants and attractions. Any boat can choose to leave the flotilla to pursue their own course, but we've found the crew, who know the waters so well, can find locations easily overlooked, and do a lot of the work of creating safe anchorages.
