The Details

In 2023, there are five potential expeditions to choose from - up to four San Juan and Gulf Island cruises.

  • A maximum of two of these voyages would be executed in any one year. 
  • Reservations fill fast (especially the flotilla's), so the earlier a commitment can be made, the more likely the boat will be available. Charter calendars usually fill before the end of the previous summer, so reservations for 2023 would best be made no later than August of 2022.
  • Each expedition can accommodate up to two guest couples (in addition to us) as there are three staterooms per vessel. 
  • A deposit for 40% of the charter cost is required upon reservation, with the balance required 120 days before departure. 
  • Cancellation fee prior to 120 days before departure is a total of $500 per reservation week. No refunds available within the 120 day pre-departure period. 
  • The first and last days of any voyage period is scheduled for embarkation or disembarkation.

Vessels

We've used both of these vessels in past ventures, so are very familiar with their systems and handling. In the event that they are not available for a particular voyage, we have a couple of other vessels that are nearly identical as options.

Taxes, fuel, insurance, and pre-board costs are included in these rates.

San Juan and Gulf Islands

More flexible scheduling options are possible with San Juan/Gulf Island cruises than with flotilla's. The rates given are for one week of cruising, with options to extend for longer periods (up to another week) with rates being proportional.
 
We're recommending these reservation periods based on our practice of staying out of the peak season, when waters can get pretty busy.

All San Juan cruises depart from and return to Bellingham, Washington. Capacity is four guests in two cabins.

Mother Goose Flotilla's

Three flotilla expeditions are available if reservations are made soon enough (they fill up fast). 











Two of the boats for 2023 would suit our purposes, offering three cabin quarters, two for guests with one reserved for the captain (and his first mate, if she chooses to join). The suite  cabin includes its own toilet, shower and additional stowage, while the standard cabins share a bathroom and shower. Guests can choose from the suite or one of the two standard cabins.

The San Juan and Gulf Islands

Some of the best cruising in the world can be had in the islands of the Northwest, both in the U.S. and Canada. An archipelago between Washington State and Canada's Vancouver Island, and divided by Wilhelm I of Germany in arbitration of a border dispute between the U.S. and the U.K. in 1872, established the  San Juan  islands as part of the U.S.,  and the  Gulf Islands  as part of Canada. Separated by the relatively narrow Haro Strait, a common cruising ground for Orca whales, both sets of islands offer a host of serene anchorages, buzzing marina's and resorts, wildlife refuges, and marine parks. Everything from island towns served by ferry's and commercial aircraft, to isolated coves and harbors leading to hiking vistas and fossil strewn beaches.
